William Shafer

William A. Shafer, age 60 of Holland, died on Monday October 6, 2008 at his home.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Parish. Bill was also a member of the VFW, DAV, and the Eagles Club. He worked for Ameritech/Michigan Bell.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Jason Shafer in 1989 and David Shafer in 2007.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Shafer of West Olive; his daughter, Katie Shafer of Ypsilanti, MI; his sisters Joanne Spangler of Grand Haven and Nancy Tippett of Holland; and several nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial funeral mass will be held at 11:00am on Friday October 10, 2008 at Our Lady of the Lake Parish, 480 North 152nd Ave with Fr. Phil Nguyen officiating.

A wake service will be held on Thursday at 7:00pm at the home of Bill and Marilyn Shafer in West Olive. A visitation will also be held on Friday from 10:00am to 11:00am at the church.

Burial of cremated remains with military honors will take place on Friday at 3:00pm in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
