Life Story / Obituary
It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of William Paul Bremer, lovingly known as Bill, at the age of 87 on September 19, 2024, at The Inn at Freedom Village in Holland, Michigan. Bill was born on May 3, 1937, in Holland, Michigan, to John and Janet Bremer. He lived a life full of faith, achievement, and cherished moments with countless family and friends.
Bill graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Michigan Technological University and went on to receive a Master’s degree from Aurora University in Illinois. He had a successful career as the Vice President of Gas Supply and Marketing for Nicor Gas Company, where he dedicated over 30 years of service.
Outside of work, Bill found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid golfer, skier, sailor, and traveler, always seeking new experiences with those he loved. Bill cherished driving his red Mustang convertible, working on his wooden boat, telling lots of “Dad jokes” and cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events. Summers were often spent attending Camp Geneva church services, a tradition that brought him much peace and joy. He was also an active and proud member of the Rotary Club of Evergreen during his time in Colorado, demonstrating his lifelong commitment to service and community.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Bremer of Holland, MI, and his children: Barb Maffett (Randy), Bill Bremer, and Katie Doan (Brad). His legacy of love continues in his grandchildren, Tanner Maffett (Paige), Tessa Maffett, John Bremer, Ryan Doan, and Charlie Doan, as well as his great-grandchildren, Tatum Maffett and Oliver Maffett. His family was the center of his world, and he took great pride in watching them grow and flourish.
Bill’s life was one of kindness, love, adventure, and a deep love for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Rest in peace, Bill/ Dad/ Grandpa/ Great Grandpa you will be forever missed and lovingly remembered.
A memorial service will take place on Monday, September 30 at 2:00pm at Christ Memorial Church - Chapel, with a one-hour visitation prior to the service at 1:00pm.
