William Doyle Chadwick, age 85, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017, at his home in Holland, Michigan.

Bill was born in Nettletown, Arkansas on Aug. 28, 1931, to Albert and Katie Chadwick. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

Bill married Rita Ann Ruesewald on Nov. 20, 1955, in Hernando, Mississippi, after which they moved to Michigan. He was employed by Baker Furniture, Lear Siegler, and retired from Nelsen Steel. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.

Bill is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rita; six children: Katie (Steven) Van Slooten, William "Bill" Jr. (Lori) Chadwick, Tina Yancy, Sheila (Jeff) Hoshor, Steve (Deborah) Chadwick, and Brittany James; 17 grandchildren: Jessica Van Slooten (Gregg Novachek), Luke (Kyra) Van Slooten; Kayleigh, Eric, Samantha, and Savannah Chadwick; Rachelle (Curt) Scholten, Jeffry Hoshor and his fiancée Emily Simonson, Jonathan (Katie) Hoshor, Nicholas Hoshor; Meagan Yancy, Claire (Chase) Wing; Robert Chadwick; Nathan James and his fiancée Meredith Jongekryg, Franchesca, Adrianna, and Solomon James; and eleven great-grandchildren: Kendall and Lauren Van Slooten; Christian and Breana Blauwkamp; Easton and Carter Scholten; Jordan and Dominick Hoshor; Aryssa and Colten Knikelbine and Jackson Hoshor.

Bill donated his body to the Willed Body Program at Michigan State University.

A private family service has been planned at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association or the Red Cross.
