Wayne De Went age 89, of Holland, passed away, Saturday, October 29, 2011 at his home.

Wayne was born in Hudsonville, MI.

He retired from Big Dutchman in 1979 where he had been a truck driver for many years.

Wayne was a member of Trinity Reformed Church and was a veteran of WWII, serving in the United States Army.

Wayne was preceded in death by his first wife, Mae De Went in 1981 and a son , Ronald De Went in 1993.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Virginia; children, Wanda and Clark Jesiek of Holland, Carla De Went of Grandville, Kathy Bright of Holland, and Gary De Went of Holland; 6 grandchildren, Susanna Lankheet, , Brent Jesiek, Jordan Lankheet, Heather Lankheet, Katrina Bright, and Jamison Burress; 12 great grandchildren; step-children, Ron and Betty Strabbing of Washington and Ken and Linda Strabbing of Zeeland; 3 step-grandchildren and 2 step-great grandchildren; brothers, Jake De Went and Marvin and Sherry De Went all of Hudsonville; several nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Funeral services will be 12 noon on Wednesday at Trinity Reformed Church, 712 Apple Ave., with the Rev. Chris De Graaf officiating.

Burial, with Military Honors, will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm Tuesday at the Dykstra Funeral Homes-Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Ave.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland.
