Tim Reed

Tim Reed was born into the world on July 15th, 1957 in Mesa, Arizona to Ned and Leola (Willis) Reed. He was the 4th of 5 boys and 7 children. His generous heart stopped beating on December 23rd, 2021 in his home in Saugatuck, Michigan. He was 64 years old.

From the minute Tim was born, he had a twinkle in his eyes and excitement for life that drew people to him. He made friends easily and loved to make anyone and everyone laugh. He had so much joy for the outdoors, creatures big and small, and the beautiful landscapes of this earth. He loved scouting for deer sheds in the desert and mountains, fishing, being with friends and family, and telling stories. And if you had the pleasure of knowing him, you probably have some stories of your own.

His childhood spent with cousins, playing in the desert, and growing up with them was a great source of pride for him. He loved his children and grandchildren deeply.

Tim grew up in Mesa and graduated from Mesa High, class of 1976. He went on a mission for the LDS church for 2 years in North Carolina from 1976 to 1978. Upon his return, he married Denise (Brooks) Reed and they had 5 children together. They divorced in 2001. He never remarried.

He retired from the Mesa Fire Department in 2006 after serving 23 years. In December 2013, Tim moved to Michigan to be near his oldest boy, Ben, and his 2 boys. He’s loved living there and has made some great friendships.

Tim leaves behind his children, Amanda (Chris) Fondow, Benjamin (Katie), Tyler, Lonie, and Brody, 17 grandchildren, his brothers Danny (Jody), Wylie (Janice), and sisters Lori (John) Poulsen, and Jenny (Corey) Chatwin. And many nephews and nieces.

There to greet him on the other side are his dad, Ned Reed, mom, Leola Reed, and brothers, Wade and Ned.

We will miss his laughter and gregarious spirit.

A gathering for Tim will be held in Michigan, Jan. 1 from 2-5 pm at Coral Gables in Saugatuck.

Services for Tim in Arizona will be on Saturday January 8, 2022 at: The Courtyard by Marriott Mesa at Wrigleyville 2224 W. Rio Salado PkwyMesa, AZ 85201 (Far west side, next to Sloan Park). Visitation with our family and friends will be at 2pm, and the service will start at 3pm. Please park in the back (north side of hotel).
