Tom Nyland, passed away on Sunday, January 22nd at the age of 70 at his home in Holland, Michigan.

Everyone who knew Tom would say that he could bring a smile to your face in a matter of seconds and would be the first person to volunteer if you needed a helping hand.

Growing up sailing and waterskiing on Lake Macatawa, Tom loved being outside on the docks every summer. Tom attended Holland High School, served in the United States Army, and attended Ferris State University.

For most of his career Tom and his long-time friend started and ran Macatawa Associates producing and selling licensed sports products. In his later years Tom worked as Dockmaster for the Singapore Yacht Club in Saugatuck.

Always very proud of his work, Tom stood up for his employees and was a hard worker.

Tom was known by many for his deep love and dedication to his family and friends, his zest for life, and his contagious charisma and smile. Tom was always the most fun person at the party!

Tom is predeceased by his father Edwin Nyland, older brother Steve Nyland, and nephew Eric Nyland.

Tom is survived by his wife of 42 years Cyndi Nyland, two daughters Samantha (soon to be son-in-law, Jesse) and Tauren Nyland, his mother Betty Nyland, younger brother Jeff Nyland (Holly), sister-in-law Barb Nyland, sister-in-law Cathy (boop) {Dave Bekken}, sister-in-law Michelle Moton, brother-in-law Keith Klimzak, nieces he thought of as daughters, nephews he thought of as sons, favorite littles, his furry sidekicks, and a host of many, many great friends.

Tom truly lived every day to the fullest. Those closest to Tom will hold all his jokes, pranks, affection, and precious memories close to their hearts for all the days to come. This summer, family and friends will hold a celebration in honor of his life, and in true Tom fashion, we are welcoming everyone (even strangers) with big smiles and open arms.

Arrangements are by Dykstra Funeral Homes-Saugatuck Chapel.
