Terry Simmons

Terry D. Simmons, age 57, of Rockford, Michigan, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025. Born and raised in Holland, Terry spent the last ten years calling Rockford home.

Terry is survived by his loving partner, Amy Derry; his siblings Carol (Harvey) Goossen, Don (Julie) Simmons, Randy (Diane) Simmons, Sue Simmons, and Leanne Simmons—who gave Terry the incredible gift of a kidney. He is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Caroline Simmons, and his sister, Myra Bruursema.

Terry found great joy in his work helping stranded motorists on Michigan highways through a company contracted by MDOT. It was more than just a job to him—it was a passion. He came home every day with stories and a smile, and he made lifelong friends wherever he worked.

A true sports fan, Terry, cheered faithfully for the Detroit Lions and the Chicago Cubs. He loved to travel, especially to warm destinations, and was always ready for the next adventure.

Terry will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A celebration of his life will be held later this summer.
