Life Story / Obituary

Print

Surrounded by family, Steven Jay Landstra, age 56, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 29, 2024 after a long battle with cancer. Steve was born on November 25, 1967 and lived a life full of friendship and love. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend.

Steve will be dearly missed by his wife of 30 years, Shawn (Erskine) Landstra; daughters, Hayley and Carly Landstra; parents, Carroll and Ann Landstra; father-in-law, Dan Erskine; brother, Dan (Laura) Landstra; sister, Patti Landstra; brother, Joe (Rachel) Landstra; sister-in-law, Nikki Erskine; brother-in-law, Seth (Amanda) Erskine; nephews, Colin (Andrea) Erskine, Sam, Dave, Arie, Case and Rens Landstra; nieces, Katelyn Erskine, Jenna, Katie and Ava Landstra; and a long list of special friends and business partners. Steve was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Jan Erskine.

Steve loved spending time and making memories with his family. He loved family trips especially vacations to Disney World, Mackinac Island and Traverse City. He also enjoyed relaxing on cruises with Shawn to warm destinations. Steve was one of the few people who genuinely enjoyed his job and the people he worked with. He loved meeting new people and could get along with anyone. When Steve wasn’t working or spending time with family, he could be found training for a triathlon, a marathon, a ½ iron man, or playing golf, fishing with friends or at a University of Michigan football game. Steve truly loved life and lived to the fullest. His bright smile and infectious laugh will be missed by many. He was kind, generous, loving, funny, a loyal friend, a trusted business partner and a faithful Christian.

Visitation with relatives and friends will be held from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Tuesday, March 5, at Zion Reformed Church (4457 36th St., Grandville, MI 49418). A celebration of Steve’s life will be at Zion Reformed Church on Wednesday, March 6, at 11am. Reverend Greg Brower will be officiating.

Steve requested in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Zion Reformed Church or Faith Hospice.

Arrangements are by the Dykstra Funeral Home-Northwood Chapel.
