Sally Edith Pollock, nee Swigert, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021 in Zeeland, MI.

Sally is survived by her husband, Herbert Pollock and her sister-in-law and brother-in -law Nancy and Bob Gillette; niece and nephews, Kathleen Johnston, Michael Gillette, and Benjamin Gillette; and great niece Katie Gillette and great nephew Matthew Gillette.

She was predeceased by her parents Frederick Chester and Marjorie Swigert and her brother Briard Swigert.

She was born on May 16, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan.

Sally was valedictorian of her Royal Oak Michigan high school class; graduated from the University of Michigan in 1956 with majors in economics and political science; and obtained a teaching degree from Wayne State University.

Sally and Herb have been married 62 years. They made their home for several years in San Francisco, Ca. and then in Washington D.C. They moved to Holland, Michigan where Sally taught in Holland schools.

She then had a career as a computer systems designer for Whirlpool Corporation in St Joseph, Mi. She retired to her home at Ottawa Beach in Holland, and was active as a member of the Park Township Zoning Board of Appeals, HASP, Evergreen Commons and was a member of Third Reformed Church in Holland.

Sally loved sailing (racing and cruising); bicycling adventures in France; cross country skiing; politics and knitting.

Sally was optimistic and a teacher and a wonderful friend to many.

The family suggests in memory of Sally that contributions be made to Camp Geneva where she worshipped in the summer.

Funeral services will be 2 pm Thursday (December 23) at the Dykstra Funeral Home-Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Avenue. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Geneva.
