Ruth (Ruthie) Marie Wassink left her earthly body on June 23, 2023 to join her loved ones who have gone before.

She was born to Rev. Gerrit & Grace Dykman in Holland Michigan on November 1, 1944. She graduated from Holland Christian High School, and was wed on February 2, 1974 to Carl Wassink, who predeceased her in 2018.

Ruthie and Carl worked together starting up several local businesses, the last being Shoreline Creations and Group Tour Magazine. They enjoyed many good years, and both loved traveling. Sunny Arizona was one of her favorite places, where they spent many winters with friends and family.

She is survived by Nick and Jo Ann Wassink, Dan and Bethany Wassink, Whitney and Ed Gasper (Guy-Jack-Annie-Megan), Melissa and David Tatlock (Justin-Sam-Maddie & Jeremy Delgado); great grandson, Elisha Delgado; sister, Janice Van Dyke; in-laws, Stewart and Shirley Wassink, Don and Lorna Wassink, Sharon and Larry Haverdink, Vern and Linda Wassink, Hugh and Paula Wassink, Robert Wassink, and Marilyn Wassink. Also many nieces and nephews, and close friends, including Fred and Shirley Rathbun, and Eileen Kilmer-Heeringa.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Carl; brother, Dr. Calvin Dykman; brothers-in-law, Dr. Jerome Wassink and Jerry Van Dyke.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023 at 12 noon at the Dykstra Funeral Home-Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Avenue. Reverend Mark Kleinheksel will be officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland or The Alzheimer’s Association, Michigan Great Lakes Chapter.
