Ruth E. Endean, age 96 of Holland, passed away on May 13, 2022 at her home in Freedom Village where she had lived for 30 years.

Ruth was born in Evansville, Indiana, to Glenn and Clara Stormont in 1925. She graduated from Wayne State University and worked for the city of Detroit before marrying Donald H. Endean in 1951. Ruth and her husband moved to Holland, Michigan where he practiced medicine. She was a faithful Sunday School teacher at Immanuel Baptist Church for many years. She valued education and supported her grandchildren and many other young people, including several overseas students, in pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees. She also edited and typed graduate papers (theses and dissertations) for a number of students as well as several books by a local pastor. In her later years she volunteered with Crossroads Prison Ministries.

She loved reading, sewing, and knitting. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family and was a particularly good listener to her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She was a loving wife to Donald for almost forty years and will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son Daniel in 1956 and her husband Donald in 1991 and her brother-in-law Milton Endean in 2021. She is survived by her children: Rick (Deb) Endean of Lexington, KY; Tim (Cheri) Endean of Holland, Michigan; and Cathy (Dave) Wagner of Silverwood, Michigan; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; her brother David Stormont (Ruth Anne), Northville, MI; her sister-in-law Gracie Endean, Taylors, SC; 2 nieces and 2 nephews.

A private funeral will be held later this summer.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Holland or Scripture Union.
