Life Story / Obituary
Roger Dorn was born in Douglas Michigan to Julie and Henry Dorn on October 1st, 1949.
Roger is a long-time resident of Saugatuck and was known to many and deeply loved by his neighbors. Roger was a graduate of Saugatuck HS and went on to become a certified electrician. He worked at Heinz for over 30 years in his field and after retirement worked full time in the lighting and electrical department at Menards. Roger was born with a partial arm but after meeting Roger, you quickly realized he was not handicapped. He was a helper to all and spent his life serving others. He was a proud Mason and Shriner and loved driving children to Chicago for treatments.
Roger was a huge motorcycle enthusiast, traveling cross country with fellow bikers. He enjoyed all varieties of music from ACDC to 60’s, big band and all kinds of rock...Roger liked one volume...LOUD; and lived his life with the same kind of energy as his listening choices.
Roger was a highly social person and was well known in Holland and Saugatuck. Wherever he went, someone knew him. Roger is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Pat Dorn, his sister Pamela (Larry) Crosby from Holland, his sister-in-law Caryl Meister, Niece Amie (Bret) Witkowski of St. Joe and two great nieces; Elizabeth (Ian) Thibodeau and Emily (Noah) Panzer.
Roger passed at his home on November 13th after a short illness. Many feel blessed having had Roger Dorn in their lives. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital.
