Rog Wynsma

On April 27, 2021, after several days being surrounded by his wife and children, Roger Wayne Wynsma (78) died from cancer.

Roger was born on August 19, 1942 in Grand Rapids, MI to Peter and Nellie Wynsma.

Roger is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy (Peck) Wynsma and children Matthew (Carrie) Wynsma, Joseph (Brenda) Wynsma, Sarah (Marc) Roemer, and Katy (Mitch) Van Dam; as well as grandchildren Ben (Veronica) Wynsma, Sam Wynsma, Zeke Wynsma, Cora Wynsma, Alex (Erin) Roemer, Brad (Erin) Roemer, Lucas Roemer and Patrick Roemer. He is also survived by his sisters Elaine McIntyre and Phyllis Day.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Hank Wynsma and Harold Wynsma.

Roger was a graduate of Grandville High School and Western Michigan University. After teaching high school for 30 years, he retired from West Ottawa Public Schools. He spent summers and several years after retirement as a house painter. Roger enjoyed being active in gardening, walking, biking and wood working. He was a member of Christ Memorial Church. Roger will be remembered as a fun, steadfast, and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be deeply missed and thought of fondly for his love of family, strength, character and sense of humor.

A private family service will be held Monday (May 3) at Fellowship Reformed Church. Service will be livestreamed http://www.fellowshipreformed.org/watch at 11am. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery. No visitation is scheduled.
