Robert Marvin Rose age 89 of Holland died Monday, September 22, 2008 at Resthaven Care Center. Bob was born in Grand Rapids, MI on July 4, 1919. He as an Eagle Scout and graduated from Holland High School in 1938. He retired from West Michigan Laundry and later retired from Breuker and Den Blyker. Bob was a longtime member of Trinity Reformed Church where he served as a Scout Leader for many years. Bob served in the United States Army during WWII and was a lifetime member of the Holland VFW Post 2144. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Marian on August 14, 2008, son-in-law Gary Kempkers, daughter-in-law Bonnie Rose, brother-in-law Rex Koetsier, and grandsons Gary Rose and Shannon Rose. Surviving are his children Cal Rose of Sebring, FL, Bob and Linda Rose of Ganges, and Helen and Tom Miller of Holland; 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Erma and Eugene DeWitt of Holland and Heidi Koetsier of St. Joseph; several nephews, nieces, and cousins. Funeral services are 11 am Thursday at the Trinity Reformed Church, 712 Apple Ave., with the Rev. Leigh Van Kempen officiating. Burial will be in the Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Visiting is 7-9 pm Wednesday at the Dykstra Life Story Funeral Homes-Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
