Robert F. Fortney, age 84, of Holland, passed away, January 6, 2011 at Appledorn Living Center.

Bob was born in Holland and graduated from Holland High School class of 1944. He served in the United States Navy during WWII from 1944-1946. Bob retired from H.J. Heinz in 1986 after 37 years. Bob was a member of the Central Park Reformed Church and a former member of Bethel Reformed Church, where he served as an Elder and Deacon.

Bob is survived by his wife of 64 years, Leona; children, Jim and Doris Fortney of Zeeland, Mary and Del Ensing of Holland, and Mark and Diane Fortney of Jenison; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Tracy and Dean Driesenga (Alec and Savana), Jon Fortney (Micah), Kristin and Jacob Woudwyk (Lukas and Ella), Sara Kuite (Hannah and Noah), Nick and Krystal Ensing (Hailey and Tyler), Josh Fortney, Jennifer Fortney, and Matthew Fortney; brothers, Paul and Pat Fortney of Detroit and Ron and Betty Fortney of Holland; in-laws, Norm and Barb Veldhuis, Norma and Cal Hoort, and John and Carol Nuismer all of Holland; several nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Funeral services will be 11 am Monday at the Central Park Reformed Church, 614 Myrtle Ave., with the Rev. David Landegent officiating.

Burial will be in the Pilgrim Home Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-5 pm Sunday at the Dykstra Funeral Homes-Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street.

Memorial contributions may be made Central Park Reformed Church or Hospice of Holland.
