Life Story / Obituary
Richard Allen Van Dine, age 76, of Laketown Township, passed away on Thursday February 23, 2012.
Over the years Richard and his wife Sally enjoyed many vacations out West where they traveled to states like Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado. They also would take weekend trips where they would often play the slot machines at different casinos in Michigan. Richard is a survivor of Leukemia for almost 20 years. Physicians were amazed at his strength and unwillingness to give in to leukemia and they called him a "walking miracle". Richard's family was the most important thing in his life and he loved to spend any time he could with his family, especially holidays and birthdays.
Richard was a veteran of the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Jo Van Dine in 2009.
Richard is survived by his children, Linda and Edward Mennega of Dorr, Scott and Rosie Van Dine of Laketown Township; his grandchildren, Jaclyn Hulst and her husband Todd Hulst, Megan Geurink, Christopher Geurink, Marc and Kristy Martinez, Carmen Van Dine; his great grandsons Jayden Geurink and Blake Hulst; his brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and LaVonne Van Dine, his sisters and brother-in-law, Betty Jean Bronkhorst, Judy Ann and Harold Burns; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services with military honors will be held at 12pm on Saturday February 25, 2012 at the Mulder Chapel, Dykstra Story Funeral Homes, 188 West 32nd Street with Rev. Corwin Stoppel officiating.
