Richard P. Sheppard

Richard Sheppard, age 78, of Holland, passed away on April 15, 2024, at Medilodge of Holland. He was born October 22, 1945, in Pontiac, Michigan to Neil and Vivian (Adams) Sheppard. On April 6, 1974 he married Susan Fox of Colver, PA.

Raised in Rochester, Michigan he was a 1963 graduate of Rochester High School. He proudly served his country as a lance corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps (1966-1968) as a draftsman before graduating from the Detroit College of Applied Science with a degree in engineering. After graduation he moved to Holland, Michigan and worked at Ex-Cell-O, Textron, Woodward, and later AM General.

He is survived by his children, Laura Sheppard, Sandra Hayes, and Michael Sheppard all of Holland; grandchildren, Austin (Madison), Trever, Owen, Morgen, and Myles; sister, Kathleen (Robert) Carey of Deerton, MI; sister-in-law, Diane Sheppard of Rochester, MI; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan, and younger brother, Robert. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather.

A funeral service with military honors will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, April 19, at the Dykstra Funeral Home – Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Avenue in Holland. Burial will be at Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00pm - 7:00pm, Thursday, April 18 at the Northwood Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Van Andel Institute - Dementia Research.

Funeral arrangements are under the auspices of the Northwood Chapel.
