Richard Frank Eichler, age 66, of Holland, died Monday, November 13, 2006, at the Hospice House of Holland.

Mr. Eichler was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on December 14, 1939. He would work as a commercial fisherman for many years before moving to the Saugatuck area, where he would become captain of the vessel "CISCO" working for the Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service out of Saugatuck. He would attend Christ Memorial Church, where he would regularly be involved with meetings for Stephen's Ministries. Mr. Eichler loved to write poetry, and also had a love for the Lake and the Dunes. He spent his entire life fulfilling his dreams of fishing.

Surviving are his children, Chris and Mary Eichler, of Florida, Catherine Eichler, of Arizona, an Mark Eichler, Oregon; Grandchildren, Ashley Eichler, Erin Eichler, and Daniel Eichler; and a sister, Delores Gegenhuber, of Wisconsin. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

At his request, cremation will take place.

A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, November 21, 2006, 11:00AM, at Christ Memorial Service. Officiating will be the Rev. Bill Boersma.

Visitation will be Tuesday, from 10:00AM, until the time of the service at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mariners Church of Detroit, or to Christ Memorial Church.

Arrangements are by the Mulder Chapel, Dykstra Life Story Funeral Homes, 188 W. 32nd Street.
