Raymon Lee Schutt, age 94, of Holland, passed away, Saturday, May 13, 2023. He was born October 31, 1928, in Holland, Michigan. He was a member of North Holland Reformed Church, then raised his family in Grace Reformed Church, now called Intersection Ministries.

All his life, Ray loved farming, and he loved the family farm! The original 40-acre Schutt Farm was established in 1893 by Ray’s grandfather Egbert Schutt who immigrated from the Netherlands as a young child. Ray was born in the original farmhouse in 1928 and lived there his entire life except for his last 14 weeks, when he was moved to Rest Haven, Maple Woods. In 1950 when Ray and Bea (Tamminga) Schutt were married, they bought the farm from Ray’s parents Harry and Helene (Michielsen) Schutt. While working the 100-acre farm, Bea and Ray raised 8 children, as well as Ray working at Chris Craft and then Zelenka Evergreen Nursery. The Schutt Farm was designated a Centennial Farm by the state of Michigan in 1993 and has remained in the Schutt Family for all these 130 years. Ray enjoyed hunting with friends, he made several mission trips, including to Alaska, and enjoyed singing in various Men’s Quartets and the church Men’s Chorus. Though he loved farming and the family farm, Ray especially loved his 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Beatrice (Tamminga) Schutt *wife of 10 years Ann (Holstege) Schutt *son Ken Schutt *brother Ed (and Ila) Schutt *brother James Schutt *brother Don Schutt *sister Nelva (and Gerrit) Van Kampen *sister Arlene Tenckinck *sister-in-law Delores Schutt *brother-in-law Jim (and Carla) Tamminga *brother-in-law Willard (and Connie) Tamminga *brother-in-law Henry (and Joyce) Tamminga *brother-in-law Bud (and Henrietta) Tamminga *brother-in-law Marty Chrispell *sister-in-law Alice (and Ken) DeNeff *sister-in-law Juella (and Ed) Keller
