Life Story / Obituary
Randy Northuis, age 77, passed away at home Thursday, October 9, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer.
Randy was born February 1, 1948, in Holland, Michigan to Cornelius and Margaret Northuis. He graduated from Holland High School and served in the Army during the Vietnam war. He survived 2 helicopter crashes and was awarded a purple heart. He worked for BASF for many years then Hamilton Public Schools until his retirement in 2008.
Randy married Jody Keene in 1976. Randy built their home in Holland, MI board by board, where they raised Scott and Eric Northuis.
Randy was known for his incredible talent building custom hot rods. Family would often joke that he could find an old door handle and build an entire car around it from scratch. After retirement, building hot rods became even more of a passion and he was even featured in a couple of magazines with his cars. In the summer months, he and Jody would drive one of the cars to attend large car shows around the US where there was always a crowd around his car.
Randy was always there to help family and friends, whether it was fixing things his kids broke, wiring up houses for friends or building a sculpture for his wife Jody. When he wasn’t in his shop building and fixing things, he loved to spend time hunting and fishing.
Randy is survived by his sons, Scott (Mikki) Northuis and Eric Northuis; his granddaughter Abigail Northuis; his brother Tom (Barb) Northuis and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius and Margaret Northuis, his sister Barbara Northuis, his wife Jody Keene Northuis, and his granddaughter Kaitlyn Northuis.
A private family memorial service is planned. The family requests no flowers or gifts, your love and support are more than enough.
