Ray Cordero was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on March 11, 1936. He was the son of Isidro Cordero, a cigar maker, and Aurora Aguirre, a home maker.
Ray was a father, brother, cousin, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Elena and siblings Carmen Baez and Nelly Laboy, brother-in-law Luis Laboy and Great granddaughter Misa Lauren Outen.
Ray is survived by his son’s and their families, Mitchell and Lisa, Eric and Yvette, Ray and Deborah; grandchildren: Lissette and Jon Outen, Kassie and Timothy Reihl, Melanie and Paul Minder, Jacalyn Cordero, Nicole and Steven Hayden, Iona and Starling Rawls, Brandon and Ajielle Cordero, Antonio and Taylor Cordero, Elena and AJ Mills; great grandchildren Jonathan and Jocelyn Outen, Devone, Starling Jr., Dajuan and Shayne Rawls, Rustin Mills and Ezra Cordero and many more nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, he also resided in New York, New Jersey, Mississippi, Florida and Michigan.
Ray Cordero's life was a vibrant tapestry woven with the threads of joy, hard work, and love. From the sunny shores of Ponce, Puerto Rico, to the bustling streets of New York and beyond, Ray's journey was marked by the warmth of family and the richness of experience. His legacy is cherished in the laughter of his grandchildren and the stories shared around the table, a testament to a life well-lived. As we gather to celebrate Ray, we remember a man who embraced life's passions with open arms, from the rhythm of dance to the mastery of dominoes, bowling and fishing, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those he touched. Today, we honor a beloved father, brother, cousin, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, whose memory will forever dance in the spaces he once filled with love.
Cremation will take place, and a Celebration of Life is planned for a later date.
