Phillip Miles

Phillip S. Miles, age 73, of Holland died Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Grace of Douglas.

Phil was a member of Central Wesleyan Church and a veteran of the US Army serving during the Vietnam War. One of the most precious experiences of Phil’s life was when he and his wife Doris went on a mission trip to Mozambique where they provided day camps for the people of Africa. His favorite past-time was traveling, fishing and family gatherings.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Doris and children:

Stephanie Lopez of Georgia, Laurie and Kevin Miller of South Carolina;

step-daughters: Tami Spytma of West Olive, Kim and Carl Laaksonen of Hamilton; 10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sister and brother:

Daniel Miles of California, Jenene Hutek of Southgate, MI; sister and brother-in-law: Carol and Jim Botsford of Zeeland, Vern and Carla Sterk of Holland; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be 2:00pm, Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Central Wesleyan Chapel 446 West 40th Street please use entrance G.

Reverend Vernon Sterk will be officiating.

Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00pm prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Holland or Holland Rescue Mission.

Arrangements are by Dykstra Funeral Home – Northwood Chapel.
