Petra De-Chavarria

Petra De-Chavarria, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, July 29, at the age of 86, surrounded by her loving family.

She was known for her warm heart, her love for Jesus and her ability to make everyone feel like family. Petra enjoyed spending weekends with her children, playing lotería, completing word search puzzles, sewing and crocheting booties and accessories, and paying her tithes. A woman who gave selflessly, lived humbly, and left a lasting legacy of love.

Born in Torreon, Coahuila Mexico, Petra was a woman of great strength, unwavering faith, and boundless love. She married Maximiliano Chavarría who preceded her in death in 1981 along with her brother, Luciano Ramirez and her daughter, Vita Chavarria.

A devoted mother and grandmother, Petra’s greatest joy was her family; her children, Maria and Angel Dominguez, Francisca Chavarria, Noe and Juany Chavarria, Maximiliano and Luz Chavarria, Maria and Jose Castro, Marta and Ignacio G. Castro, Roy and Ana Chavarria, Elsa and Reymundo Mireles; 26 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors on Sunday, August 3, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, at the Dykstra Funeral Home - Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street, Holland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 4, at 11:00am, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 171 West 13th Street, Holland. Father Luis Garcia presiding. A graveside service will be held in Pilgrim Home Cemetery following the mass.
