Peggy Sue Vasquez (Elgersma), 63, of Holland, Michigan, was born on July 9, 1960. She left this earth on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at her daughter's home.

Peggy grew up in Michigan and New Mexico . She was an eccentric, intelligent, and creative woman with many talents and interests. She was truly one of a kind. She loved spending time with her family, especially for the holidays and any special occasions. She enjoyed her weekly visits with her sister, Suanne, and reading her stories about horses. She loved spending time with her brother, Andy, and bringing him toys she knew he would love.

She was an antique dealer for 25 years who loved bringing her grandchildren to hunt for antiques. She paid special attention to the likes of all her loved ones and used her knowledge and creativity to search for and create unique gifts for them.

Our mother was an avid car enthusiast and loved working on cars. She also spoke fluent Spanish, loved cooking New Mexican food, especially anything with green chile, and listening to music. She was an excellent artist, unafraid to be herself.

Peggy was a big part of our family and will be deeply missed. Mom, we will love you forever and always! Grandma, we will miss you dearly.

She was preceded in death by her late husband Juan Cobos, her older brother Scottie Elgersma, her grandparents Carol "Doc" and Ruth Hansen, her grandparents John and Margaret Elgersma, and her cousin Tanya VanHarn.

She is survived by her five children, Amanda (and Michael) Lopez, Aurora (and Phillip) Lasavath, Juan (and Allison) Rodriguez, Angel Vasquez, and Tatianna Cobos, ten grandchildren, Junior, Ysabel (and Mike), Yesenia, Nikolai, Makalai, Jayden, Isaiah, Jayanna, Jimmy, and Elijah, two great-grandchildren, Jocelyn and Benjamin, her sister and brother Suanna and Andy Elgersma, her mother, Nancy Hansen, her father Alan and stepmother Marcia Elgersma, her Aunt Roma (and Bill) VanHarn, her cousin Monica VanHarn and her step siblings Scott, Steve, and Sarah, and lastly her beloved dog Yoshi.

A visitation will be 5-7 pm Sunday (May 19) at the Dykstra Funeral Home-Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Avenue. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery (Hamilton). No services are scheduled.
