Paul G. Fried, 87, died Monday morning, July 24, 2006, in Resthaven Care Center. Born in Germany, he graduated from Hope College in 1946, after serving in World War II. He taught history at Hope from 1953 to 1984, during which time he served as department chair. He was also the first director of international education, and founder of the Vienna Summer School program. Plans are being made for a memorial service in September. Arrangements are by the Notier-Ver Lee-Langeland Funeral Chapel.
