Life Story / Obituary

Patricia Elaine Thelma “Pat” Bielby went to be with her Lord and Savior Christ Jesus on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.

She was born December 7, 1937, to James and Leona (Peterson) Berry in Detroit, Michigan, eventually moving to Grand Rapids where she was raised. She began dance classes at age 4 specializing in ballet and tap—being named by the Grand Rapids Herald as the fastest tapper in Grand Rapids. She attended South High in Grand Rapids and became a dance instructor for her home studio, The Phil Oosterhouse Dance Studio.

She married the love of her life Dale Bielby in 1956 and raised four boys. She was a familiar face around Holland from her 30 years working at Meijer as a service manager. After retirement, she volunteered for Bethany Christian Services’ crisis help line. She was active in her church, Rose Park Reformed, leading bible study and teaching Sunday school. She was later a member of Central Wesleyan.

Pat loved her family very deeply, blessing us with special and personal experiences and time with her. She loved each of her grandchildren uniquely and held a special place in her heart for them.

Pat exuded style and grace, along with a feisty personality. She had boundless energy and was an amazing hostess and cook. She and Dale enjoyed years of camping and collecting antiques. We will all miss her fun imagination and stories of the Three Little Ants.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, James and Leona Berry, husband, Dale Bielby, and grandson, Travis Bielby.

She is survived by her children, Steve and Gina Bielby, Mark Bielby, Scott Bielby and Curt and Laura Bielby. Grandchildren, Kelsey and John Maxwell, Shea and Seth Ray, Max and Abbey Bielby, Cody Bielby, Mason Bielby, Carson Bielby and four great grandchildren, Bennett, Brynlee, and Brooklyn Bielby and Finn Maxwell. She is also survived by her “baby sister” whom she loved immensely, Joy (Chris) Boggiano.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm, Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at the Central Wesleyan Chapel, 446 West 40th Street in Holland, please use entrance G. Rev. Larry Johnson will be officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 11:45 am prior to the service. Memorials can be made to Lakeside Clubhouse, Holland.

Arrangements are by Dykstra Funeral Homes-Northwood Chapel.
