Life Story / Obituary
Dr. Norman W. Rieck, age 91, of Holland, passed away Tuesday April 29, 2014, at Hospice House of Holland.
Norm was born and educated in Union City, NJ.
He served in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII, where he was an air traffic controller in India and China.
After graduating from Hope College in 1953, with a degree in biology, he earned his graduate degrees in anatomy from the University of Michigan Medical School.
Before returning to Hope College, he taught anatomy at both Temple University and the University of Michigan Medical Schools.
At Hope College, Norm, taught a variety of courses in the Biology Department and was the advisor for students going into the Health Professions.
Norm is survived by his wife, Ellen, of 60 years; son, Dr. Richard and Dr. Susan Rieck and three grandchildren, Richard, Elizabeth, and William.
Funeral services will be 11 am Saturday at the Third Reformed Church, 111 West 13th Street, with the Revs. Kent Fry and Kama Jongerius officiating. Burial will be in Graafschap Cemetery. Visitation will be 10-10:45 am Saturday, prior to the service, at the church.

Arrangements are by the Dykstra Funeral Home-Mulder Chapel.
