Nancy Karen Hogar was born on August 20, 1943, to her parents Norman and Emma (Been) Hoger in Chicago, IL. Nancy was raised with her younger sister, Kathy, in Mt. Greenwood, IL and Frankfort, IL. After High School graduation she worked as a dental hygienist, and a caregiver at the Rest Haven Nursing Home in South Chicago for three years. She decided she really wanted to be a nurse, and she enrolled at the Walther Memorial Nursing School. After graduation she nursed for a few years at Walther Memorial Hospital and then joined the United States Air Force. In 1969 Nancy volunteered to go to Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam, and she was there for one year. She was in the Air Force for five years and loved her time as a military nurse.

After the Air Force, Nancy volunteered to be a missionary nurse for the Reformed Church of America in Oman. She enjoyed nursing poor women and children at the Reformed Church Hospital near Muscat, Oman.

After the missionary tour was over Nancy was hired by the Hines V.A. Hospital in Chicago. She continued to work there for the next 20 years.

Nancy loved to travel, and she went to Africa, Central America, Israel, New Zeeland, Australia and multiple trips to Europe and Britain.

Nancy moved to Holland, MI in 2022 to be closer to sister Kathy and Kathy’s family. Nancy was a dedicated Christian, and she found a wonderful new church home in Park Christian Reformed Church. Any memorials should be made to Park Christian Reformed Church in Holland.

Nancy was diagnosed with serious heart disease in December of 2024. After many hospitalizations Nancy decided to forgo any more heart treatments. She died at peace on June 29, 2025.
