Mildred "Millie" Snyder

Mildred Elaine “Millie” Snyder, 92, of Holland, Michigan, entered her eternal home with Jesus on January 28, 2026, at Freedom Village in Holland.

Millie was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on February 25, 1933, to Berend (Bert) and Irene Bergmans. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University, where she met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Snyder. They married and built their life together in Midland, Michigan, where they raised their four sons—Dan, Tom, Steve, and Jonathan.

Initially an elementary school teacher, Millie found her greatest joy in being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was the queen of casseroles and a gifted baker, known especially for her pies and cinnamon rolls. Her faith shaped every part of her life. She served joyfully in the choir, Children’s Sunday School, and Stephen Ministry at Midland Reformed Church, and she was a committed leader in Bible Study Fellowship. Her love for young people was evident in her support of the MRC youth group and Young Life.

In 2009, Millie and Bob moved to Holland to continue enjoying their retirement years. They made Christ Memorial Church their home, where Millie participated in several women’s ministries and continued to pour into the lives of others. She was a content, joyful soul—deeply loved by all who knew her. Millie’s signature smile and the quiet, steady joy she carried flowed from her deep relationship with God through her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Millie is survived by her husband of 68 years, Bob, of Holland; Her sons: Daniel (Ann) of Minneapolis, MN; Thomas (Jeanne) of Grand Rapids, MI; Stephen (Kathi) of Muskegon, MI; and Jonathan (Nikki) of Canton, MI; Her grandchildren: Zachary (Patricia), Matthew (Jennifer), Laura (Eric), Amanda, Seth, Camille, Audrey (Alex), Anna, Abigail, and Emma; Her great-grandchildren: Ellie, Caleb, Emily, Zoe, Eliza, Rory, and Eden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Irene Bergmans; her sisters, Dorothy Breisch and Marilyn Mohr; her grandson, Ryan; and her great-granddaughter, Greta. Great is His faithfulness.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 21, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Christ Memorial Church, 595 Graafschap Rd., Holland. A one-hour visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., and a luncheon will follow the service.
