Reverend Merwin "Mike" Van Doornik of Holland, Michigan, died on Tuesday, December 15, 2020. He was 85 years old. Mike was born in Holland Michigan, attended Holland High School, Hope College and Western Seminary leading to a completion of his dream of becoming a pastor with the Reformed Church of America. Mike served in many churches in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Michigan.

Mike was most recently a member of Third Reformed Church in Holland where he sang in the church choir. Mike lived at Freedom Village where he actively recruited others and participated in as many activities as he could.

Mike is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice who passed away in 2000. Survivors include children, Dave and Leigh Van Doornik of Holland and Don and MaryAnne Van Doornik of Port Orchard, Wash.; three granddaughters Devin (Andrew) Bosma, McKenna Van Doornik, Jaiden Van Doornik and one grandson, Mark Van Doornik; sisters, Eleanor and Roger Nyland; Ardith Tschanz; sister-in-law Maurine Lautenbach and Cornelia Dykstra; and uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins.

Mike loved God and shared that message with everyone he met. 'Nothing can separate us from the love of God." Romans 8:39

An online memorial service will be held, Thursday, December 31 at 10 am from Third Reformed Church. Please go to https://www.trcholland.org/, click Mike Van Doornik service link to view service. No in person attendance.

Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Right to Life Holland or Third Reformed Church Music Fund.
