Michael “Mike” Jack Witteveen, age 73, of Holland went to be with his Savior on February 16, 2026. He was born on September 23, 1952 to Jacob and Gertrude Witteveen (Van Beek) and the fourth of five children. The Witteveen family attended Harderwyk CRC and he graduated from West Ottawa High School.

Mike served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1970-1974 as a Machinist Mate on two different ships, the USS Eugene A. Greene and the USS William M. Wood. He met his wife, Dawn Slotman, as she was filling out some veteran paperwork at the American Red Cross. They were married in August 1976. He was a longtime member of Maplewood Reformed Church and served on Consistory many years. Mike spent most of his career working as a HVAC installer/supervisor at Bremer and Bouman Heating and Cooling.

Mike was a HUGE fan of Nascar, so you always knew where he’d be on Sunday during racing season. He also loved camping. Camping somewhere in Michigan was the highlight of his summer. Described as a kind and gentle man, Mike was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His quiet kindness will be missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Gert, and brothers Terry and Ron. He leaves behind his wife, Dawn; children April Witteveen and her husband Matt Gwinup, their two children Ezra and Arlo, of Oregon, and David Witteveen.

The family will receive visitors on March 1 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Dykstra Funeral Home-Mulder Chapel on 32nd St., 188 West 32nd Street. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland, 270 Hoover Blvd., Holland, MI 49423.
