Michael Jay Cornelissen, age 84 of Holland, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.

Mike was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served his country from 1958-1963. He met his beautiful bride, Friedhilde, while stationed over seas in Germany. Together, they owned and operated “Mike’s Restaurant”, in Hudsonville for 27 years. Mike was also a proud citizen of the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish band of Pottawatomi Indians Gun Lake Tribe. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be deeply missed, but we will see him again one day.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerhard and Iola (Trevan) Cornelissen; brothers, Geritt, Gordon, Warren, Leslie, Perry, and sister Corinne Boes.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Hilde; daughters, Corine Cornelissen (Randy), Tammy (Chad) Kragt; along with his granddaughters, Shania, Shelby, and Shayna Kragt.

A visitation will take place on Sunday, June 9 from 4-7pm at Dykstra Funeral Home – Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Ave in Holland. A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, June 11 at 11:00am at Peace Lutheran Church, 389 James Street, Holland with a graveside service and military honors to follow at Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
