Melissa Jo Dyke

On January 31, 2020, Melissa Jo Dyke, loving mother to Jordan Lee and loving grandmother to Matilda Lee, passed on at the age of 49.

Melissa was born in Holland, Michigan on July 30, 1970. She attended Holland Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1988. Melissa was a devoted mother, always making sure her only child Jordan was successful at whatever he did. Whether that meant driving him to swim practice at five in the morning and working two jobs or helping him with studies; she was committed and loving. She also adored her only granddaughter Matilda Lee. Melissa was a determined woman with a strong will to succeed. Most recently she was pursuing her nursing degree from Muskegon Community College along with her best friend of over 30 years, Jodi Trethewey. The two were inseparable and Melissa was always there for Jodi with a listening ear. She was a curious soul and loved learning. Growing up she spent time doing arts and crafts with her sister Mimi and visiting Aunt Pati’s for Sunday night taco dinners. Melissa was a devout University of Michigan football fan. Whenever they were playing she would hang her Michigan flag from her garage.

Melissa was a cherished sister to Bill (Kim) Dyke and Mimi Fritz; a beloved aunt to Grace Fent, Alyson Dyke, Kenna Dyke, Lexi Nestle, Micaela Fent, Jeff Dyke, Erin (Dan) Talley, Caitlin (Alexis Johnson) Fritz and Megan (Hyatt) Middleton.

The family will receive visitors Saturday, February 8, from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm, at the Grand Rapids Downtown Market Green House, 435 Ionia Ave. SW, Grand Rapids, MI.
