Mavis Swanson

Mavis L. Swanson, age 97, of Holland died Thursday, May 12, 2022 at her home.

Mavis was born and raised in Holland. She graduated from Holland High in 1943. She worked at Michigan Bell for 5 years before getting married. After getting married she lived in the Chicago area for 39 years. She worked for a school insurance company for 20 years in Wheaton, IL. Mavis loved knitting and bridge.

Mavis was preceded in death by her husband C. Donald Swanson in 2003, a brother, Robert Riemersma in 2002 and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Riemersma in 2013.

She is survived by her children; Dorothy Swanson of Holland and Betty (Len) Swatkowski of Arlington Heights, IL; grandchildren: Stephanie (Matt) Looney of Lisle, IL and DJ (Amanda) Swatkowski of Coloma, MI; great grandchildren: Kiley Swatkowski of Iowa and Jasper and Lily Swatkowski of Coloma, MI, and nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be 11:00 am, Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Dykstra Funeral Homes-Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street in Holland. Rev. Paul Van Kempen will be officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
