Mary F. Swartz, 96, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022 at The Inn at Freedom Village in Holland, Michigan.
Mary was born near Muncie, Indiana to Clifford and Anna (Golliher) Farmer. She graduated from high school and Ball State University receiving a bachelor’s degree in education.
She married Robert Swartz in 1948. He preceded her in death in 1998.
She is survived by two children, Barry (Jeanette) Swartz of Saline, MI, and Jeanine (Dale) Roberts of Holland, MI; four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
Mary was a beloved second grade teacher for many years in the public schools in Litchfield, Michigan. She was an avid reader, enjoyed birdwatching and gardening, traveled extensively, and kept a daily journal for 40 years.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Litchfield District Library, where Mary was a volunteer.
A graveside service will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at White Pigeon Cemetery in White Pigeon, MI. A memorial service honoring Mary’s life will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Litchfield Congregational Church, 203 N. Chicago Street, Litchfield, MI 49252. Arrangements are by Dykstra Funeral Homes-Northwood Chapel.
