Mary A. Overway, age 87, of Holland, MI passed away at her memory care home on June 28, 2024.

Mary was born to Otto and Anne VanDyke on July 9, 1936. She graduated from Holland High School and attended Hackley Nursing School. She spent several years as a homemaker, mother to five boys, teaching piano, playing the church organ, and supported her husband’s (August) business career. After August’s retirement she enjoyed gardening and traveling throughout the USA and parts of Europe. She was a child of God and a long-time and active member of Zion Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband August, son Mitchell, sisters Bette (Jim) Metzler and Joy (Jack) Cote, and brother Bruce VanDyke. Mary is survived by her sons Bruce of Holland, Mark (Faye) of Largo, FL, Kurt (Judy) of Montague, MI, Patrick of Grand Haven, MI and daughter-in-law LeeAnn Overway of Holland; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Patricia (Thomas) Hoewisch of Cedar Hill, TX and Janet VanDyke of Wellington, FL; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church, 77 West 32nd Street, with Rev. Ryan Winningham officiating. Visitation will be 10-10:45 am prior to the service at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Elara Caring Hospice.

Arrangements are by the Dykstra Funeral Home- Downtown Chapel.
