Mary A. Kangas

Mary Kangas (nee Romain), age 72, of North Muskegon, Michigan, passed away on March 25, 2025. She was born on June 4, 1952, in Detroit, Michigan to Adele and Joseph Romain.

Mary was a proud graduate of Cabrini Catholic High School and went on to attend Central Michigan University, where she pursued her passion for education.

She was a devoted wife to Bill and a loving mother to Gabe and Maea. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her cherished grandchildren, who brought her endless happiness. She had a deep love for Lake Michigan, the feel of sand beneath her feet, and the simple joys of camping under the stars.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Bill; her children, Gabe (Carissa) Kangas and Maea (Matt Kearby) Kangas; her grandchildren, Ray, Ezra, and Clara; her siblings, Dan, Allen, Jolene, and Loren; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Dave Caudill. She will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Dykstra Funeral Home’s Northwood Chapel, on Tuesday April 15, at 4:00pm. Visitation will be immediately preceding at 3:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the West Ottawa Educational Foundation at woef.org in her honor.

She will be deeply missed but forever in our hearts.
