Marjorie Jean Schaap, age 93, of Holland passed away Sunday, July 16, 2023, at Appledorn Assisted Living Center South.

Marjorie was born February 6, 1930, to Bert and Elsie (Jousma) Drooger in Grand Rapids, MI. She married Edwin Jay Schaap on October 20, 1949.

Marjorie enjoyed reading fiction Christian books, but most important to her was the time she spent studying the Bible. She liked to work in her flower garden, spring, summer, and fall and she made incredible homemade cookies and applesauce. Marjorie always looked forward to the time she spent with her girls. She and Edwin spent their winters in Haines City, FL.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin Jay Schaap on October 12, 2020.

She is survived by her children: Robert (Eileen) Jousma of Ypsilanti, MI, Susan (Dick) Harleman of Titusville, FL, Daniel (Kathy) Schaap of Holland, Sharon (Ron) Clark of Holland, and Vivian (Brad) Lane of Holland; grandchildren: Marjie (Jason) Guerriero, Robert Jousma, Angela (Justin) Breese, Michael (Bernie) Schaap, Matthew (Heather) Schaap, Melissa (Patrick) Kelly, Ashlee (Steve) Haase, Kelly (Tim) VanBennekom; several great grandchildren; brothers: Warren (Toots) Drooger, Dave (Lynn) Drooger, Jim (Judy) Drooger, Tim (Marj) Drooger; Many nieces and nephews.

Marjorie was the best mom and grandma anyone could ever ask for. She was always there to listen and lean on. Marjorie always had an open heart for giving and was blessed with a spirit full of wisdom. She was very supportive to her husband’s ministry, winning lots of people to Jesus.

A funeral service will be 11:00 am, Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Ridge Point Community Church, 340 104th Avenue in Holland. Pastor Josh Zoerhof will be officiating. Burial will be in East Holland cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be given to Paradise Bound Ministries, 425 Centerstone Ct., Zeeland, MI 49464. Arrangements are by Dykstra Funeral Homes-Mulder Chapel.
