Margaret (Patin) Kalman

January 14, 1932-November 6, 2016

Margaret Mary (Patin) Kalman age 84 of Holland passed away Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Medilodge of Holland after a brief illness. Margaret was born January 14, 1932, to Philip and Mary (Haussman) Patin in Sand Lake,MI., the sixth of ten children. She grew up on the family farm before moving to work in Grand Rapids. On September 5, 1959 she married Henry Joseph Kalman where they made a life together in Holland.

Margaret was very devoted to her Catholic faith and a longtime member of Saint Francis De Sales Catholic Church serving as a Lector, Eucharistic minister or at funeral luncheons and other parish related events. She retired from Bohn Aluminum and enjoyed spending time with extended family and close friends. “Marge” as she was affectionately known, loved to play cards, travel and dine out with the “birthday club” group or visit with neighbors. Marge’s fudge was a hot commodity at Christmas time and she always let others know she was thinking of them with her thoughtful cards and letters. She was known for her generous spirit and was a wonderful godmother, beloved sister, aunt & friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Henry Kalman, her brothers, John Patin, Joseph Patin, Alfonso Patin, her sisters, Mary Lou Patin, and Sister Mary Phyllis Patin, OSF, sisters-in-law, Ruth Patin and Patricia Patin.

She is survived by a sister, Sister Mary Philip Patin, OSF of St. Louis MO, brothers, Frederick (MaryLynn) Patin of Sand Lake, Peter (Carole) Patin of Cedar Springs and Anthony Patin of Sand Lake; her sisters-in-law, Donna (Jack) Dunaven of Cedar Springs, Alice Kalman of Kalamazoo, Mary Ann (Tom) Klompstra and Barbara (Max) Sine of Portage and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held Wednesday 5-8PM at the Mulder Chapel, Dykstra Funeral Homes, 188 West 32nd St., Holland with a rosary service at 7:30 PM.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM, Thursday at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 171 West 13th Street in Holland with visitation from 10-11 prior to the service. Margaret will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Sand Lake, MI. 3:00PM following the service.
