Life Story / Obituary
Loie Heidema-Bucel, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on March 19th, 2025. Born on December 5, 1941, Loie lived a life filled with love, faith, and adventure.
A woman of deep devotion, Loie was a faithful member of her local church, where she found strength and community. Her hands were rarely still, tending to her beautiful garden — a sanctuary of color and life that reflected her nurturing spirit.
Loie’s adventurous heart led her to travel the world by boat alongside her loving husband, Leonard Bucel, creating memories that spanned oceans and continents. Together, they embraced the wonders of the world and cherished every journey side by side.
Above all, Loie’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother to Vincent, Timothy (and his wife Dawn), and Jennifer (and her husband Scott). Her love extended to her four cherished grandchildren — Sophia, Timmy, Alex, and Ana — who brought endless joy to her life.
Loie’s warmth, faith, and adventurous spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she brightened.
A celebration of Loie’s life will be held at Dykstra Funeral Home, 29 9th St Holland, MI from 4-6pm on Friday March 28th. The Funeral will be held at the New Apostolic Church, 114 W 14th Holland, MI at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of Michigan in her memory.
