Leona Mae West, age 89 of Holland, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on November 5, 2021.

Leona was born on May 15, 1932 to George & Alice Jansen in Holland, MI. She married Ronald West on January 4, 1955 and the two raised their children on the Northside of Holland. Leona worked for over 10 years at Donnelly Mirrors and was a longtime member of Beechwood Reformed Church. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crochet and used her creative talents to make hats for new babies in the hospital, dolls for children around the world, and dish cloths/scrub pads for church fundraisers. Her greatest hobby however was spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Henrietta Kunen, Wilma Martinie; brothers, George Jansen; sister-in-law, Eleanor Collins; brothers-in-law, Gerald Martinie, Stuart Kolean, Robert West; and grandson, Marc Kamps.

Leona is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Ronald West; children, David & Kim West of Jamestown, Nancy (Bob) Kamps of Zeeland, Judy West of Holland; grandchildren, Kelli (Craig) Sterley, Amy West, Brandon Tolsma, Lydia (Reid) Whitney, Marckie Kamps, Alicia (Jordan) Trumpie, Jacob Tolsma, Daniel West, Zachary Tolsma, Tyler West; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sisters, Gertrude Kolean, Connie Walters, along with many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff at American House - Beachside and Hospice of Holland for the loving care they provided to Leona. She loved all of you.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 10 from 4-6pm at Dykstra Funeral Home – Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Ave. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, November 11 at 11am at Beechwood Church, 895 Ottawa Beach Rd in Holland with Rev. Marlin Vis officiating.
