Lawrence "Larry" L. Kuck

Lawrence "Larry" Kuck, Sr. embodied the true Christian spirit with his kind, generous nature and honest and hardworking attitude. He provided faithfully for the family he loved dearly and put his heart into doing God's work. Larry's deeds and actions were an inspiration to those that knew and loved him.

Although the Great Depression dominated American life in the 1930s, by the end of the decade, World War II would revive the economy and bring Americans closer together. For Lynn and Susie (DeBoer) Kuck, it was also a time of coming together for their families to celebrate the birth of their new son, Lawrence Lee, who was born on July 15, 1936, in Grand Haven, Michigan. Along with his brother, Ronald, Larry grew up in Grand Haven and graduated from Grand Haven High School. After graduating, he served a term in the U.S. Army.

In 1956, Larry married the love of his life, Helma Bahl, and they had a son together, Larry Jr. In 1960, the family of three moved to Holland, Michigan, where Larry worked as a Master Plumber for Breuker and Den Bleyker Plumbing Co. for 30 years. Shortly after settling in Holland, the family became members of Beechwood Church and Larry joyfully took his place among the choir members, which he truly loved for over 30 years. He and Helma enjoyed being active in the many church activities, and whenever the need arose, Larry was always glad to help the church with plumbing problems.

After retiring in 1999, Larry pursued his love of golf whenever he could, but was always happiest when he could spend time with his three grandchildren, Marissa, Alex and Mason, whom he adored. Larry was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Lawrence "Larry" Lee Kuck, Sr., age 69, of Holland, died Wednesday, February 8, 2006, at Zeeland Community Hospital. Preceding him in death was his parents. Surviving is his wife, Helma, of Holland; a son, Larry and Shelly Kuck, of Zeeland; a brother, Ronald and Judy Kuck, of Minneapolis, MN, and three grandchildren: Marissa, Alex and Mason. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, February 13, at 10:00 a.m. at the Beechwood Church with Rev. James Lankheet officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, February 12, from 3-6 p.m. at the Northwood Chapel of Dykstra Life Story Funeral Homes, 295 Douglas Avenue in Holland.
