Kenneth Henry Smith, age 84, of Zeeland passed away peacefully into the arms of his Savior at his home on Thursday, May 13, 2021 following a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Ken was born June 24, 1936 in Grand Rapids, MI to Henry and Thelma Smith. He was a bricklayer before purchasing the Wooden Shoe blueberry farm. Ken served on the board of Zeeland Coop and was a member of the Michigan Blueberry Growers Association. He was long time member of North Holland Church where he served as a deacon. Ken enjoyed farming, rolling skating, square dancing, camping and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Jamie Marie Kammeraad.

He is survived by his former wife Jean (Shepperly) Smith and children: Kathy and Mark Davis of Allegan, Jan and Randy Baumann of Holland and Keith and Kristina Smith of Holland; grandchildren: Joshua Kammeraad, Sara Kammeraad, Seth and Samantha Smith, Stephanie and Anthony Scheerhorn, Kacie and Gary Prins, Levi Baumann, Shelby and Eric Lamer, Elliana and Logan Harig, Serena Smith, Marlaina Smith and Josiah Smith; great grandchildren: Dakota, Tyler, Brennan, Wesley, Beckham, Ella, Camille, Whitaker, Finley, Ava and Kendall; brother and sister: Gerald Smith of West Olive and Joanne and Jerry Julien of Coopersville; he is also survived by his current wife Joyce (Vander Veen) Smith and his step children: Cheri and Scott Nardin of Grandville, Jeff Grooters and his friend Carla Weber of Allendale and John and Jennifer Grooters of Sand Lake; 12 step grandchildren and 11 step great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A heartfelt thanks to the AWESOME caregivers that were truly the hands and feet of Jesus to Dad these past months. Stacy Marion, Kim Newell, Rebecca Huddleston, Cathie Hoover, Lynn and Cody DeBoef. We are forever grateful!

A private family viewing will take place at Dykstra Funeral Homes-Northwood Chapel and a private family graveside service at North Holland cemetery.
