Life Story / Obituary

On November 16, 2022, Kathleen (Kathy) Foster passed away at the age of 74. She bravely fought Parkinson’s Disease for 12 years. Jesus has now ushered Kathy to her eternal home.

Kathy was born on April 20, 1948 to James & Frances Scott in Spring Lake, Michigan. She graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central in 1966. After high school, she attended the Hackley School of Nursing earning her RN license.

Kathy married Frank Foster on June 26, 1970 and they celebrated 52 years of marriage. Kathy and Frank knew the importance of having a marriage centered on God and together they served many years in the Marriage Encounter ministry.

Her passion was in caring for people. Kathy took joy in raising her three daughters, loving her grandchildren, caring for the elderly at Haven Park Nursing Home, attending to her much-loved daycare children and serving the community at Country Seasons Restaurant and Beechwood Inn. Her pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met.

Kathy enjoyed photography, sewing, cross-stitching, playing King’s Corner, camping, traveling, and wintering in Sebring, Florida.

She is survived by her husband, Frank; daughters, Shannon Murray, Kelley (Chuck) Durdle both of Holland, and Nicole Foster of Cadillac; 10 grandchildren, Mckenna, Kaelyn, Bryce, Ethan, Trent, Brayden, Gavin, Kailey, Jenna, and Graysen; siblings, Gloria (Mike) Pasche of Battle Creek, Tom (Sue) Scott of Shiner, Texas, Karen (Bruce) Reenders, Theresa (Ward) Perry and Doug Scott of Grand Haven, 12 Nieces & Nephews, many cousins and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim & Frances Scott; her parent-in-laws, Frank & Caroline Foster; nephew, Seth Reenders; sister-in-law, Kathy Foster and brother-in-law Steve Foster.

In lieu of flowers the family requests monetary gifts be given to Kid’s Food Basket.

The family is forever grateful for the care provided to Kathy and her family by Hospice. The music therapy, home health aides and precious care brought Kathy great joy.

“I stayed in the garden with Him

Through the night all around is falling

But He bids me go, through the voice of woe

His voice to me is calling”
