Life Story / Obituary
Juan Murillo Sr., age 84, of Holland died Sunday, March 6, 2016 surrounded by his loving family at home.
Juan was proud of becoming a U.S. Citizen. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Juan was employed at Donnelly Mirrors as a machine operator until his retirement in 1994. He worked side by side with his wife Esther for 30 years. Juan enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, boxing, woodworking and tinkering in the garage. He was preceded in death by his sons Rogelio Murillo in 1951, Robert Murillo in 1964 and daughter Emma Bartell in 2013.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Esther, and children; Rosie (Jerry) Corey of Rockford, Juan Jr. Murillo of Holland, Mary Anne Van Dam, Mary Helen (Craig) Crooks of Ada, Stella (Randy) Tasker of Hudsonville, Yolanda (Karl, fiancé) Murillo of Comstock Park, Margaret (Phil) Tamminga of Holland, Melissa (Derek) Kronemeyer of Zeeland and Mary Elizabeth (Brian) Mulder of Zeeland; grandchildren: Bobby, Gabe, Ashley (Ross), Anthony, Michela, Ali, Amanda (James), Samantha (Dave), Addison, Brandon (AnnaMarie), Drake Jr., Niquo, Patrick, Christopher, Mariah, Marissa, Amber, Alana, Robbie, Ryan, Deono, Anna, Ricky, Mia, Ella, Sam; great grandchildren: Soarah, Averie, Jaden, Mason, Raquel and Aria; son-in-law: Mark Bartell; two brothers and three sisters; several brothers and sisters-in-law including Cris (Adam) Aguilar; nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral mass will be 11:00 am, Thursday, March 10, 2016 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 171 West 13th Street in Holland. Father Charles Brown will be officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 2-4 pm & 6-8:30 pm, with a Rosary at 8:00 pm, Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Dykstra Funeral Home – Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Avenue in Holland. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Holland or the National Kidney Foundation, Inc.
