Life Story / Obituary


Joyce Scholten, age 86, went home to be in the arms of Jesus on Sunday, October 28, 2018. She was born on April 12, 1932, in Hamilton, Michigan, to James and Fannie (Prins) Busscher. Mrs. Scholten worked for several years at Holland Hospital and she married the love of her life, Albert Scholten, in 1960. They were best friends, devoted to each other and happily married for 47 years. Joyce was dedicated to her family, she did anything to help and better their lives. Mrs. Scholten was a long time member of Graafschap Christian Reformed Church.

Joyce was preceded in death in 2008 by her husband, Albert Scholten and her parents. She is survived by her son, Rodney (Shellie); daughter, Michelle Shashaguay; grandchildren, Emilie Scholten, Ryan Shashaguay; great grandchild, Zariah; brother, Howard (Deb) Busscher; nieces, Chris (Brian) Wisniewski and son, Steven, Jennifer Busscher and many cousins.

Funeral services will be held, 11:00 am, Friday, November 2, at Graafschap Christian Reformed Church, 5973 Church St, Holland, with the Rev. Stan Scripps officiating. Visitation will be 4-7:00 pm, Thursday, November 1, at Graafschap Christian Reformed Church. Interment in Graafschap Cemetery.
