Joseph H. Los, 69, of Laketown Township, passed away on November 1, 2018.

Joe is survived by his wife, Pam, daughters Caitlin (Barrett) Randolph of Holland and Alexandra Los of Kailua-Kona, HI, grandchildren Adeliza, Liam, and Saoirse Randolph; father-in-law Ward Dobbin of Macatawa; brother-in-law Gregg (Jan) Dobbin, niece Carrie Dobbin (Mark Bourguignon), grandnieces Sydney and Vivienne; and nephew Dan Dobbin, all of California; dear cousins in Buffalo, NY, and sister Lenore Huffman of Maryland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Tessie Los, and mother-in-law Laura Dobbin.

A teacher, builder and artist by profession and inclination, Joe graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1971 with a B.S. in Industrial Technology. After moving to Michigan in 1976 he pursued his teaching certification, then taught in Saugatuck for several years while building a house in Laketown in his spare time. Although he would never lose his love of teaching, a pink slip from Saugatuck allowed him to jump into construction full time. In addition to building new homes, Joe soon found his passion restoring cottages along the lakeshore - especially in Macatawa.

Joe loved fishing, camping, canoeing, hiking and all adventures in the outdoors, but his favorite times were exploring nature with his family and his canine best friends. His adventures provided plenty of material for the stories he loved to tell.

A memorial service will be held at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 252 Grand Street, Saugatuck at 1:30 Thursday, November 8. Please join the family for a reception after the service.

Memorial donations may be made to All Saints’ Episcopal Church Endowment Fund, PO Box 189, Saugatuck, MI 49453 or to the charity of your choice.
