John Yester

John Yester, age 104, of Holland, went peacefully to be with his Lord on Tuesday, February 15, 2022.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of more than 60 years, Edna. John is survived by his four children, Ted Yester of Mesquite Nevada, Linda Jacobs of Holland, Edna Austel of Franklin Pa and Randy Yester of Gibsonia Pa. 8 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. John grew up in Pittsburgh Pa and moved to Holland to live with his daughter 7 years ago. He lived a long life and brought joy to many people. He was devoted to his family and was known for his sense of humor and quiet demeanor.

John proudly served with the US Army 295th Engineer Combat Battalion during WWII and is a veteran of D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge, receiving the Bronze Star for his service. He retired after 34 years working in a steel mill and 10 years for a school district in Pittsburgh.

A memorial service will take place on Thursday, February 17 at 11:00am at Third Reformed Church. For those who cannot attend in person, a live-stream will be available here.
