Life Story / Obituary

Joanne Nieboer, age 96 of Holland, MI, went to be with her Lord on February 3, 2025, after a short illness. Joanne was born in Zeeland, Michigan, to Henry and Lena Pippel on November 11, 1928. She attended Zeeland Christian School and Calvin College. Joanne and her husband Keith joined Calvary Reformed Church in Holland Heights shortly after it was organized. She taught many young girls (including her own) the art of sewing through 4-H. She was even on the State Board of 4-H for a time. She enjoyed water aerobics, camping, and touring Europe with her friends. She loved family get-togethers and made a delicious cream pie, as well as many other specialties. If anyone was an overnight visitor, the frequent breakfast was her Belgian waffles with a side of bacon Keith cooked. She was preceded in death by Keith, her husband of 70 years of marriage, and her sons, Douglas and David.

She is survived by daughters Karen Reynolds and Marilee (Jeff) Bosma. And grandmother to Mike (Aime) DeWitt, Duke (Andrea) DeWitt, Rachel Nieboer, Sam Nieboer, Katie (Mike) Jager, Heidi (Mark) Huizinga, Noah (Paige) Bosma, Sarah (Chet) Chamberlin, and Heather (Anthony) Contor. She was a great-grandmother of 19 and great-great-grandmother of 8.

The family plans a celebration of her life at 1 pm, April 26, at Calvary Reformed Church, 995 E 8th St #3087

With a visitation at 12am, and a time to share memories with light refreshments immediately following.
