Joan Hall Lalley, embraced by family, passed away peacefully on October 7.

She was born in 1929 in Kalamazoo and raised her family in Holland. She was blessed with two wonderful marriages, her first to Robert Hall, until his early death in 1983, and her second to William Lalley. Her biggest joy was being with her grandchildren and being delighted by her great grandchildren. Jo cherished her relationships with her many friends. She was an active and faithful member of Hope Church for over 64 years. She was always thoughtful and generous, and lived her faith. Jo supported many charities and was an active volunteer throughout her life, always wanting to make a difference in someones’ life. A nature lover and outdoor enthusiast, she enjoyed hiking, bird watching, and exploring the wonder and beauty of creation and had a deep appreciation of music. She enjoyed playing golf and tennis, sailing, and traveled to many amazing places.

Joan will lovingly be remembered by her children, Craig and Karen Hall, Julie and Rick Campbell; special friend, John Upton; step children, Bill, Brenda, Lisa, Bob and Sonia Lalley; adoring grandchildren, Taylor (Mark) Oberman, Stacey Hall (Ryan Perrone ), Erik (Erin) Hall, Jordan (Tracy) Campbell, Caitlin (Adam) Fredericks, Robert (Jacqueline) Campbell; step grandchildren, Patrick, Sabrina, Brittany, Morgan, and Trevor Lalley. She will also be missed by her 15 great grandchildren who brought her much joy in her last years bicycling around her wheelchair.

Thank you to her dear friends and workers at Freedom Village and the Inn where she had a full and happy life, being able to continue activities she loved with people she cared about deeply. The family expresses their deepest appreciation to all of her caregivers and staff at the Inn who loved and cared for her beyond measure.

We will be celebrating her life in a private family memorial service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to two of her favorite local charities, Escape ministries and/or Outdoor Discovery Center.

Funeral arrangements are under the auspices of the Downtown Chapel.
